A concrete water will generally get small cracks over time. This is usually due to small amounts of ground movement as the tank settles. Small leaks can be seen by the common water weeping marks, and minor cracks are generally self healing. Larger cracks will require intervention before significantly amounts of water are lost. Ground movement is just one cause of cracking in a concrete tank. The water tank can also crack from thermal expansion and contraction due to large temperature changes
